Before engaging in PhD research, university teaching and consultancy work, I worked for more than twenty years as a preschool teacher, director and early childhood consultant. My central goal is for all children, educators and parents to experience the joy and satisfaction of meaningful mark-making and quality visual arts learning experiences. My PhD thesis explored the visual arts beliefs and pedagogy of early childhood educators and my research interests focus on early childhood visual arts education, John Dewey’s philosophy and the Reggio Emilia educational project.
